As 2023 comes to an end I’d like to reflect on some of the accomplishments of the Town this year. The Town has heard for years that the Town needed a Town Center or place for the Community to gather. The Town has entered into an agreement and has committed funding to partner with a developer on a transformative project called Easton Grey. Easton Grey will be a mixed-use development that has a walkable commercial area called the Riverwalk District. Construction is expected to begin in 2024. After more than a year working with the Avon Junior Athletic Association, we were able to get an agreement approved. We are so excited about the opportunity to grow, enhance and increase sports participation for youth in our community. We look forward to partnering with our Schools on growing school spirit, working with Coaches to teach and develop skills and Churches to utilize community resources. The Town is also nearing completion of the first Phase of the Dan Jones widening project. This is the first phase of what will be a multiyear project to enhance transportation in Avon and reduce commute times. The Town has heard our residents’ frustration with traffic congestion, and we are addressing this by adding capacity to our transportation network. With 2023 concluding, we begin to look forward to 2024. Next year the Town is planning some exciting new projects. We are hoping to break ground on a new Government Center that will be located at the heart of Easton Grey. It will be a collaborative effort to house the Town, School, Township and Chamber. It will also have space for the community to gather and participate in events. The Town is planning to do a bond to begin construction on several new Parks. Over the last few years, the Town has acquired new land, and we are now ready to start building those new Parks. These new Parks will provide places for families to play together and enjoy nature together and will enhance the quality of life in Avon. Finally, as Dan Jones widening phase 1 is completed, we will shift into phase 2 which will be widening from CR 100 S to CR 150 S and include a roundabout at CR 150 S. This project will enhance traffic flow, but it will also alleviate traffic congestion to and from the High School. Thank you to all the Town Staff, Police Department and Town Council for their hard work in 2023 to continue to make Avon a safe, vibrant community for active families and thriving businesses. Thank you to our residents and business for trusting us and supporting us in this mission.

UPDATES
The 2023 Guardrail project has begun! Several locations throughout town are getting new guardrail or guardrail repair. 2023 GUARDRAIL PROJECT SPEED TABLE Oxford Boulevard and CR 100S at Oxford, the speed table at CR 625 E, and a speed hump in Beechwood are still outstanding. Our 2023 paving contractor is going to try to get to them this year. The speed table material will be switched to concrete and completed this year if the asphalt contractor is unable to do the work. CR 100S AT ALL POINTS The South approach to the roundabout on CR 100S at All Points is being constructed, as well as a right in/right out approach on the South side of CR 100S, West of the Salt Lake

The Ronald Reagan median by the CR 1050E approach is finally complete, even after it had to be repaired after a vehicle ignored the traffic barricades and attempted to drive over the new concrete. There are some temporary traffic barrels on the new median to help deter drivers from attempting to cross over the new concrete. RONALD REAGAN
The next phase of the US 36 Added Travel Lanes project had a field check, conducted by INDOT. The anticipated construction is from Shiloh Crossing to CR 671E. Construction is anticipated to be in 2025 or later. INDOT is designing a “Half Traffic Signal” on US 36 at Harvest Landing (Costco). A Half Traffic Signal basically is for one direction, in this case eastbound to northbound, and is coordinated with an adjacent traffic signal to take advantage of lower traffic volumes when the upstream side street has a green light.
STREET SWEEPING Street sweeping is underway in the NW quadrant, moving to the SW quadrant next, then SE, and finally NE. (Perhaps a good opportunity to remind everyone that leaves should not be swept into the road. Our sweeper will have to sweep them back into their yard and it will make the process take much longer) The pedestrian signals for the bicentennial trail on CR 200N should be installed in the next month.
