WE NEED YOUR HELP! Using the link below, we would love to hear from you all about the good people in Avon, Indiana. These do not have to be giant moments of over-the-top greatness. Goodness to each other happens through the smallest interactions most times. Throughout each month, we will be reviewing submissions and awarding these amazing AVON|NOVA folks with a special thank you and sharing their story with you all. It’s too easy to focus on the bad in the world; it’s time now to lift up the good. Please help us in finding those individuals and telling their stories. You could also assist us by simply sharing this post, and details, so your friends, families, neighbors, and anyone else online can connect and share the good too! :-) “Good People Shining Bright” avongov.org/nova

The Town of Avon is proud to open our doors to all Avon families this Halloween. Town-wide Trick or Treating will be happening on October 31st, 2022 from 6-9 pm... BUT... if you have family members that aren't able to go out in the evening, we would like to invite you to join us at Avon Town Hall for some fun and extremely safe trick or treating!

The Avon Police Department’s National Night Out Against Crime event was a huge success with well over 5000 in attendance. We would like to thank all of our donors, sponsors, volunteers and especially our community for attending, and continuing to demonstrate such wonderful support for our agency. This event has grown so much since we started it in 2015, and it continues to grow each year. Our staff has already began planning next year’s event, and we have some great ideas and surprises to make it extra special! Avon Police Department Updates Avon Police Chief | Sean Stoops

Avon Police Department Updates

Two of our newest officers graduated from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) on Friday, August 19th, 2022. All statutory police officers in Indiana must attend the ILEA, and successfully complete training in the use of force, criminal law, traffic law, emergency vehicle operations, firearms proficiency, and many other topics related to policing. Upon completion of their ILEA studies, each officer must successfully complete an in-depth field training program that takes approximately 16 weeks to complete. By the time an officer is ready to be released to work alone, each officer has already received nearly 40 weeks of specialized training. We are currently working to fill four vacancies here at the Avon Police Department, and we are planning on adding two additional police officer positions for 2023. If you or anyone you know might be interested in a career in law enforcement, please follow our social media pages and our town website for upcoming information about our next hiring process and minimum qualifications.

Avon is amazingly beautiful . In order to keep it that way, we need all Avon residents and business owners to keep the trash in appropriate receptacles. The Town invests money and time trying to keep the Town looking good and differentiating itself from everywhere else. We ask residents to help us by not throwing trash out the window, or on the ground. It's actually cheaper for you to take it home and throw it away in your trash can than throwing it out your window and the Town paying for someone to pick it up.

We appreciate everyone’s help in making Avon a better place to live.

Clerk-Treasurer Update

The Clerk Treasurer's department is currently working with the Town Manager and Town Council on adopting the 2023 budget. This is a process that can take a large amount of time to complete due to the detailed attention required. The Town of Avon prides itself on the fact that we focus on having a balanced budget, and we plan on keeping that as we move forward into 2023. Kathy Selch, Deputy Clerk- Treasurer, will be sending out renewal letters for expiring alarm permits this month for those who live within the Town of Avon limits. Alarm permits are required for residential and business alarm systems and can easily be found online at... avongov.org/174/Alarm-Permits
